City of Leduc council approved expanding the Downtown Storefront Improvement grant program to include additional properties on 52 Ave. and 49 Ave. at the Sept. 9 regular meeting.

The program provides individual matching grants to downtown businesses, allowing them to upgrade the exteriors of their business. Initially it focused on the downtown core and Phase 2 of the project expanded the boundaries to include all of Main Street, up to the Highway 2 overpass. The project coordinators came to council with the request to expand further after receiving feedback from business owners.

So far the program has seen 10 buildings and 23 storefronts improved.

Coun. Glen Finstad said he appreciates that the program is extended to more of downtown and hopes to see it increase further one day.
